Excellent View of the Miss CA/Perez Hilton Mess from Roland Martin of CNN

A lot of folks are always saying they like to keep it real, that they want authenticity and straight talk. Yet when someone actually does it, there is hell to pay.

Welcome to the world of Miss California, Carrie Prejean, who, since she answered a question regarding same-sex marriage in Sunday’s Miss USA pageant, has been savagely attacked by those who oppose what she had to say.

Leading the burn-her-at-the-stake parade is media opportunist Perez Hilton, the self-described gossip queen, and the individual who kick-started this controversy by asking the initial question as to whether the issue of same-sex marriage should be left up to the states.

It seems that Hilton, who is gay, was none too pleased that Prejean chose to actually give her personal opinion on the issue, and ripped her on his blog after the show, using crude obscenities as he continued to attack her at every turn on his media blitz.

Hey, Hilton, from a real journalist to a wanna-be who traffics in gossip: Never ask a question if you’re unprepared for the answer!

Frankly, this whole story is pretty stupid. Isn’t the whole point of asking a question to get someone’s true feelings, rather than the plastic and superficial answers we are all used to receiving?

Sure, Prejean could have gone the safe route and given one of those answers that reveal nothing and is hard to decipher — you know, the ones politicians give all the time — but no! She actually gave her real opinion, and is now being torn to shreds for it.

She opposes same-sex marriage. OK, fine. So what if she had said, “Hey, I’m in full support of same-sex marriage.” Would she now be celebrated on gay-focused blogs, magazines and Web sites? Would her detractors actually be saying how open she is and that she’s a great person?

Same-sex marriage is undoubtedly a hot button issue. And being from California, the site of Proposition 8, the ballot initiative that voters approved outlawing same-sex marriage, Prejean has surely had to hear the debate go back and forth. But her remark isn’t outside the mainstream. A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll shows that 55 percent of Americans are against same-sex marriage, and Proposition 8 did pass in her state 52-48 percent. iReport.com: Prejean ‘should step down’

What’s interesting about this is that many of the same folks who are slamming her for her remark voted for President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, who both have the same belief: that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Even Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear that she has the same view, and it was her husband, President Bill Clinton, who signed the In Defense of Marriage Act, the federal law that forbids states from having to recognize gay marriage in other states.

In other words, four of the biggest liberals in the country have the same belief as Prejean, but a beauty pageant winner is being torn to shreds. Hello, hypocrisy!

Those who criticize Prejean have the same right as she does to express their viewpoints. But enough with all the political correctness, where someone says she should have danced around the issue, smiled and move on. iReport.com: ‘Thank you, California!’

At the end of the day, we all have to be true to ourselves. Whether it’s a gay gossip writer who favors same-sex marriage or a heterosexual woman who is against same-sex marriage. The day we condemn folks for speaking honestly is the day we become a bland society.

Maybe we’re already there.

Only in Idaho

An eastern Idaho judge who lost patience with the disruptive behavior of a defendant ordered court officials to tape the man’s mouth shut with duct tape during a court hearing. The unusual move was ordered by 6th District Judge Peter D. McDermott during a probation violation hearing for Nicklas Frasure, 23.
Frasure was convicted of felony theft in 2008, but the judge retained jurisdiction for sentencing depending on Frasure’s response to treatment. In October, Frasure was released from a state mental hospital in Blackfoot.

He is accused of violating his probation by not taking prescribed medication.

During the hearing, witnesses told the judge that Frasure’s behavior had been strange and erratic since his release from the state hospital. They also said he has not been taking his medication and has been consuming alcohol, factors also contributing to mood and emotional swings.

Probation officer Julie Guiberson testified that Frasure is a threat to himself and others.

During Monday’s hearing, Frasure interrupted the proceedings with repeated verbal outbursts and unusual behavior and ignored several orders from McDermott to restrain himself. After another series of outbursts, McDermott told bailiffs to silence Frasure.

The bailiffs then found a roll of duct tape, tore off a piece and put it over Frasure’s mouth, according to the Idaho State Journal.

“He’s obviously not mentally competent,” Frasure’s lawyer Kent Reynolds told the judge.

TAMPA TEAM PITCHES FOURTH STRAIGHT NO-HITTER

Tampa-area high school pitcher threw his way into the state record books, pitching a fourth straight no-hitter Monday, reports CBS affiliate WTSP.

Patrick Schuster, a senior at Mitchell high school in New Port Richey, Fla., struck out 17 Pasco batters Monday in the 5-0 victory. He broke a 24-year-old state record held by Ben Webb, who threw three straight no-hitters for Gonzales Tate High School in 1985.

During his streak, Schuster has recorded 60 strikeouts and now has 30 straight hitless innings as the Mustangs wrapped up a regular-season district championship.

Oh Gavin Newsom

GAVIN NEWSOM IS RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR
Roman Catholic but not really
divorced, had an affair with his secretary, then knocked up his friend and campaign manager’s wife
alcohol abuse problems

WHY IS IT THAT EVERY POLITICIAN HAS SOME UGLY ISH IN HIS PAST?!
Here’s what you should know about his stances on policy and what’s he’s done as mayor of SF
he announced his campaign on Twitter
We are the first, and still the only, city in America implementing universal health care. We’re proving what you already knew – it is less expensive to keep people well than it is to treat their sicknesses.
Across California, teachers are facing layoff notices; but we are protecting teachers from layoffs, raising test scores and breaking down the barriers to a college education.
The unemployment rate in California is soaring. But in San Francisco, the local economy is doing better because we helped attract new industries and new high-wage jobs. We are working together to grow our economy with a local stimulus plan that will put people back to work, starting with environmental initiatives and green-collar job training programs.
In San Francisco, we’ve done all of this while balancing our budgets – and our bond rating has gone up, thanks to sound fiscal management and a rainy day reserve.
this is for the 2010 election…we’re starting early….we’ll have updates on other candidates as they announce themselves….

Talkarazzi

1. So the gay marriage circuit is back in effect in tinseltown. Miley Cyrus, Heidi Montag and Britney have all come out, no pun, and said they support people doing whatever makes them happy.

2. Lindsay Lohan is taking Eminems advice. According to inside sources she has been talking to Kellan Lutz from Twilight and 90210. Good

3. X17online can exclusively report that Rihanna went on a date last Friday – her first since Chris Brown – with the Lakers’ Andrew Bynum!

The couple dined at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills. When they left together, a witness reports that they looked “very couple-y, sitting real close to each other in the car.”

Seems like both Chris and Rihanna have moved on, but at least Rihanna’s trading up with a hot NBA player!

4. TMZ – Jamie Foxx has been sued by a guy who got severely injured on a Vodka display and claims his dream to become a brain surgeon has been put on ice.
Here’s the lowdown. Foxx hosted a party in 2007 at Social in Hollywood. William Presler he was hired to work the bar — made completely of ice.
In the suit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Presler claims drunk guests dropped their drinks around the bar and glass shattered everywhere.
At the end of the party, Presler says he slipped, fell and landed on the shattered glass, severely injuring himself. He needed 170 stitches to repair the damage to the severed nerves in his left hand.
Presler says he obtained a neuroscience degree and was forced to abandoned his career to become a brain surgeon due to the damage in his left hand.

5. Kim Kardassian Thinks Being Called A BBW Is Offensive: UsWeekly had spread on Forever 21′s new plus-size line which mentioned her and how she liked it because “It’s for a curvier girl that loves fashion.”  THIS IS WHAT KIM HAD TO SAY: I feel that this clipping from Us Magazine is a bit misleading, so I wanted to comment on it.
I am a huge fan of Forever 21 and I’m very happy they have expanded their line to include a plus-size range, but I am not in that size category and this article makes it sound like I am! I am a curvy girl and I love my curves, but curvy and plus-sized are two very different things. I work really hard to maintain my curves while staying slim and healthy, so to be classed as a “fuller-figured woman” of extra large proportions is a little offensive.

SHE’S A SIZE 2!! WTF!.. NOOOOOOOO! ‘
